Santa Clarita Wedding Vendors Help Bride Throw Surprise Backyard Wedding

One Santa Clarita bride shares her story about planning the perfect surprise backyard wedding — and the team of Santa Clarita wedding vendors she used to pull it off without a hitch.


Family had arrived from all over the country. Live music by Dole | Humphries filled the Valencia backyard with soulful tunes and good vibes. Guests sipped rosé and cold beers on a perfect Saturday evening, commenting on the beautiful new Tilch-Benson home.

“They thought they were all there for a housewarming party!” Amanda Benson-Tilch said as she tipped her head back with laughter. “HA! We had other plans.”

Suddenly, local emcee Ed Masterson appeared with a microphone and asked the crowd to make some room against the back wall. “Hallelujah” started to play, and suddenly, the stunning bride, Ms. Amanda Benson, emerged with her father and son.

“Surprise! We’re getting married!” she screeched, in pure joy.

As the crowd looked around in shock, tears and laughter filled the backyard … and the vows began.

When Amanda got engaged, she was in the middle of starting a new business and taking a new management position. A busy working professional, Amanda didn’t want to sacrifice anything for her beautiful dream wedding, but she didn’t have the time to mess around, either.

“I needed wedding professionals who have done this a thousand times before,” Amanda said. “I needed people on my team who would help me throw the perfect wedding — without the hassle.”

Amanda landed on the SCWEP website and clicked on the list of members. Then she started calling.

“I didn’t have to go searching the internet for hours on end,” Amanda said. “I’m a busy working mom, so I went to a resource of professionals who were experts in their field. And I found everything I needed.”

A V Party Rentals


“I had my heart set on those wine barrel high-top tables, and I saw them on A V Party Rental’s Facebook. I picked up the phone, and they help me put together my entire rentals order over the phone. I just looked online then called. It was that easy.”

The expertise of the A V Party Rentals team is a huge part of their value, she explained. They suggested solutions to get the most use from every piece on the order and helped her save money in the right places.

“They even handled the entire contract via email, and delivery and pickup was a breeze — exactly what you’re hoping for the day after the biggest day of your life,” Amanda said.

And, of course, the entire ceremony and reception was stunning. They’d created a scene right out of a winery’s catalog, in Amanda’s backyard.

Cruz’s Bridal

“When it came to the dress, I did not shop around. I went straight to Cruz’s Bridal,” Amanda said. “Adriana knows better than anyone how to pick the perfect wedding dress. I can't tell you enough how much trust I had in her to just fit the dress exactly to my body.”

Amanda had been following Cruz’s on social media for some time, and when she saw them post about a pop-up wedding dress sale, she was there within 24 hours.

It was the best experience she’d ever had while dress shopping, and Adriana continued to take care of Amanda even after the dress was purchased.

“She taught my matron of honor how to pin up my dress. She reminded me when I needed to come in for fittings,” Amanda said. “She handled everything. The attention to detail she gives you is unparalleled.”


Perfect Day Perfect Look

“They’re such professionals at Perfect Day Perfect Look. They made me feel at ease,” Amanda said of her wedding hair and makeup team. “They created the most gorgeous look, met time frames and just made everything so fun for my friends and family.”

In addition to the bride, the PDPL team did hair and makeup for the bridesmaids and mother of the bride. It was a hectic schedule with a lot of different looks to finish before the ceremony, but the PDPL handled it, well, perfectly.

“We did a full run-through of my hair and makeup on the day of my shower, so I could see how it all looked in different lighting, as well as on camera. So there were no surprises. I could relax knowing they were taking care of everything,” Amanda said. “And I loved it. My hair held perfectly — even after shaking my head back and forth on the dance floor!”

Claire’s Flowers

“Claire is another extremely talented local vendor. She saw my vision immediately and was able to pull out flowers that speak to the season, color and feeling I wanted to create on my big day,” Amanda said.

As a former florist, Amanda had big expectations, and Claire’s Flowers blew them out of the water. Claire’s attention to detail made Amanda feel assured that everything would look perfect. And all the guests noticed. Throughout her big day and after, Amanda kept hearing comments about how gorgeous the florals were.

“She spent so much time showing me samples and options. She asked about my linens and dress colors, and everything turned out exactly as I expected: beautiful and fresh,” Amanda said. “Claire has such an incredible talent for what she does. She took my vision to the next level.”

“I just loved working with Kate at By Invitation Only. Whether she was answering my questions about proper etiquette or showing me samples from her huge in-store supply of fine paper, Kate was my one-stop shop for all things invitations and gifts,” Amanda said.

Amanda first showed up with an idea for a theme: California wine country. Instantly, Kate showed Amanda tangible samples from her shop and asked her questions the level of formality she was going for. Based on Amanda’s ideas, Kate put together a stunning set of invitations — and Amanda didn’t have to do a thing.

“She also has an incredible little shop. I got all the gifts for my bridesmaids, flower girl and the rest of the wedding party right in her shop,” Amanda said.
